Near and Far

A trickle of hope in a land destitute,

A beam of light in a path rather acute;

A ray of hope piercing through the shut window:

Such is the dazzling sight You endow!

Laden with the choicest peacock feathers,

Swaying  with the wind hither and thither;

A surreal smile and those eyes that astound:

Flowing as ever with mercy abound!

The distances have accumulated like a wall,

And from afar longingly my gaze falls:

Like a hazy picture i desperately wish to recall,

Here i am longing for Your gracious call!

Pride and ignorance have looted my mind,

And yet Your footprints all over i find!

With hope, everytime i turn behind,

Longing for a glimpse of my Lord divine!

Like a singer parched, a child lost:

(Reliving the memories of the past)

Surrendered, of further words i am wrought!

As always, in You every solution i have sought!

Inseperation

Oh dear Parthasarathy!!
My world may turn upside down,
My cheerfulness may find worry and frown,
The tide of problems may seem to drown-
All i beg are that Your beautiful feet be my crown!

Pressures multi-directional may tear my heart apart-
O Curly Haired Lover!! that You blissfully rule it is all i ask.
From You, even if my brain fleets away:
Dear Lord- mercifully rein me in and make me stay.

If ever this heart be flickery and fragile:
Always, dearest robber, may it to You reconcile.
Even if You find this slave unworthy:
O Dearest of Your devotees, shower upon me Your causeless mercy.

Like moths to fire, bees to nectar;
Let me always run to You, O Dearest guiding star!
From You, dear Lord Parthasarathy, this slave may never be seperated!
In Your kind embrace, always keep me protected!!

How i miss You!

How i miss that time
When only for You i had time!
How i miss the cozy closeness
Which demolished all definitions of distance!

How i miss Your serene smile-
Where else will this heart that joy find?
Oh! How You let me pine
For, now miles away from You i am by Your design!

You stole my heart so wonderfully (O Krishna!)
Oh Lord who lifted the Govardhana hill so effortlessly-
Why then do You not rule it in entirety-and
Instead, let this slave wilt in anxiety?

O Lord of my heart! My Madhava, of You i beseech
That lessons of love You continue to teach!
Even if You find this heart ever slacking-
Please hold me tight in Your embrace binding!

Disjointed Chords

Krishna
When i cannot see my Lord's beautiful face,
Where do i for my empty heart find solace?
When away from the one who my insignificant heart also stole:
My heart that greives for my lover: how will i console?

I try singing a song:
But all i end up with are disjointed chords!
I try (in prayer) to fold my hands-
But find my tears wetting the sands!

Where are those blissful dreams?
Where are those moments with my Lord love-sealed?
i beg of You (O Madhava!) to take me back
For, at this moment, my life does all meaning lack!

Love, they say, appreciates closeness in miles-
But, in reverse, my woes do pile!
So close, yet so far apart drawn-
Here, alone, feeling like a lost fawn!

When my mind in circles like this does run-
Where are You, My dear Thief, hidden-having fun?
Come, let me drink the nectar of Your presence once again-
Please do not let my pleas go in vain!

One in a Thousand

O Krishna!
There may be lakhs of ants in all,
But very few do on Your beautiful creatures crawl.
There may be crores of flowers to Mother earth born:
But oh! only a few do Your handsome looks adorn!
There may be uncountable atoms of gold worn by men:
Only a select many are made into Your jewels even then!
There may be infinite lengths of thread woven:
But to tailor Your garments, only a few get chosen.
There may be many a hundred destination in Your Creation:
Each may have its flavours and each its own temptation
But dear Parthasarathy!
Allow me to find in Your Lotus Feet shelter with sheer dedication!

Dearest Parthasarathy: The Petition

Dearest Parthasarathy,
Thanks for the darshan today.

i have one request of You.
You may take it as the ramblings of an insincere-in-service devotee, or You may be kind enough to take it as a petition:

P- Permit, to serve
E- Enable to see
T- Teach, to love, unconditionally
I- 'i' may be lost in 'You'
T- Thrive i may, as Your slave, at Your feet
I- Inspire, to surrender unto You
O- Ostentatious intentions and false-pride be my loss
N- Never, never seperated from You

Forever Yours,
In Love With You,
Your slave
